Who these terms are with

These terms cover compassenergyct.com and anything you order through it from Compass Energy LLC, a Connecticut fuel delivery company reachable on (860) 633-3311. Using the site or placing an order means you accept them.

How the price works

Fuel moves every day, so the price on this site is the price we posted for today, not a standing rate. It is shown with the time it went up.

The price you are shown when you place your order is the price you get for that order, even if the market moves afterwards. If we have not posted a price recently, the site stops quoting and asks you to call instead. That is deliberate: we would rather tell you to call than sell you a stale number.

Prices are per gallon and depend on how many gallons you take. We do not publish a price for commercial fuel, because commercial pricing depends on volume, fuel type and where your yard is. Call and we will quote it.

Ordering, authorization and what you actually pay

When you place an online order your card is authorized, not charged. An authorization is a hold on your card for the estimated amount.

After we deliver, we charge for the gallons the meter actually put into your tank, at the price you were quoted. If your tank takes less than you ordered you pay less, and the rest of the hold is released by your bank. We never charge you for more gallons than were delivered.

Placing an order is a request. An order is confirmed when we accept it. We may decline an order, for example if the address is outside our delivery area, if the tank or fill pipe is not safe or accessible, or if we cannot get a delivery scheduled in the window you picked. If we decline, no money is taken and any authorization is released.

Delivery

Delivery windows are our best estimate, not a guaranteed appointment time. Weather, road conditions, traffic and demand during a cold snap all move the schedule. We will tell you if your delivery is going to move.

You are responsible for making sure the fill pipe is clear and reachable, the driveway is passable for a fuel truck, and your tank and lines are in safe working order. If we cannot deliver safely we will not deliver, and we will call you.

If a tank has run completely dry, restarting the system may need a burner service that we do not provide. Compass Energy delivers fuel; we are not a heating service company.

Cancelling and changing an order

Call (860) 633-3311 as early as you can. If the fuel has not gone on the truck we can usually cancel or change it and release the authorization. Once the truck is loaded and out on the route, we may not be able to.

Text messages

Compass Energy runs a small internal SMS service, used by the business owner to post the daily fuel price to this site. Message frequency is low. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. We do not send marketing texts, and ordering fuel here does not sign you up for any text list.

What we cannot promise

We do our best to keep this site accurate and up to date, but we do not warrant that it is free of errors or always available. A price shown in error is not binding; if something is obviously wrong we will call you before we deliver rather than hold you to a typo.

To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, and any dispute is handled in the Connecticut courts.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page at the time you place an order is the one that applies to that order.
